Article summary

Template sublines are very useful for allowing users to add additional information regarding the specifics of their data inputs within their templates. Template sublines allow for further itemization of the line type data. The total/aggregate of all sublines is posted to the line total within the template. Occasionally, a mismatch in the Subline occurs when the details of the sublines are not in sync with the main template (subline template was saved but the main template not saved). To correct this error, access Subline Validation under the More menu within the template.

This feature checks every main template line against associated sublines and verifies if the data matches. If the data does not match, template lines are highlighted in red.

Mismatch issues can be avoided by using Simulation Engine and the Enable Subline Processing feature in Template Setup.

Subline Processing

Subline Processing will process the sublines of the template first and then process the main lines in the template when the Simulation Engine runs. This will update the main lines in the template with the correct subline total. This feature is available for the following templates:

  • Global Template - Single Copy
  • Global Template - Entity Copy
  • Allocation Template
  • Line Item Template
  • HR Template

How to Enable Subline Processing?

  1. Access the Template Add or Edit page by navigating to Maintenance > Planning Templates > Template Setup
  2. Select a template and click Edit or Add a new template.
  3. On the General Information page, select the Enable Subline Processing check box.

Run the Subline Validation report to view all sublines discrepancies between sublines and main lines for a template. When running the report the user will be prompted to select a scenario, entity, template and fiscal year. Within  the report the variance column displays the difference between the Account and Sublines.
