Article summary

Once values are entered into the HR - Workforce Planning template and saved, the scenario must be processed to make this data available in reports. Processing of the scenario pushes the data from the database into the reporting cube. Therefore, any time there are changes to data within a scenario, the cube must be processed. Once the scenario is processed, data can be validated.

There are many ways to process scenarios and dimensions in Workforce Planning.  First comes the Process Reporting Area and the Home Page Tool Bar. Click here to learn more about this option. Apart from this, you can also do it from the Structured Planning > Planning Control Panel. Click Reports > Publish. This processes both scenarios and dimensions at once. Click here to learn more.

  • Employee is added or deleted or updated.

Reports for Workforce Planning

Once you process the data, Reports are the most common method for validation and can be used to confirm data before beginning formatting and customization within the report-building process.

There are two types of reports to review your data:

Standard Reports

Planful delivers presentation-quality financial reports, budget workflow, and administrative reports. Click here to learn more about Standard Reports. Note that you can deploy standard reports only if Workforce Cube is created.

Below are the standard reports you can refer to for Workforce Planning :

  • Workforce Planning Budget: This report provides a detailed level of organization for budgets related to human resources based on scenario, budget entity, and view, and allows you to view Workforce details associated with a scenario and budget entity.
  • Staffing Summary: This report is based on the Workforce Attribute selected for time, scenario, and budget entity. It displays the headcount for each month and is calculated based on the number of positions starting each month.
  • Pay Plans Exception: This standard report shows the employees that are not mapped to a selected Pay Plan for a selected Scenario and Home Budget Entity. It provides a quick and easy way to examine employee pay plan information.

Workforce Reports

The Workforce Planning reports are more flexible, and significantly quicker to generate, compared to customized Standard Reports. Workforce Reporting is seamlessly integrated into the application as a dedicated Reporting Area, providing the ability to generate reports on employee-specific compensation and financial dimensions. Apart from the above reports, you can generate reports using:

  • The Employee Export Data option (Maintenance > Workforce > Export Employee Data)
  • The Reports option from both the Employees page (from Structured Planning > Planning Control Panel) and the Employees tab (from Maintenance > Workforce > Workforce Planning Setup).
