Article Summary

The Budget Hierarchy table provides insights into how much budget has been spent, is left, and is forecasted to be spent per segment.

Segment Name: This column indicates the name of the segment. As a reminder, segments are the departments or divisions of your marketing team. Stand-alone segments appear in an off-white or light blue shade while grouped segments are indicated with a light purple shade and a number in parentheses indicating the number of segments that roll up to the grouped segment.

Segment Budget: The second column in the budget hierarchy indicates the budget that has been allocated to each segment for the whole fiscal year.

Closed: The third column in the budget hierarchy indicates the sum of all expenses with a status set to "closed" in the segment. When expenses are set to closed, the values in the "actual" column of expenses are aggregated in the "Closed" column of the budget hierarchy.

Committed: The fourth column in the budget hierarchy indicates the sum of all expenses with a status set to "closed" in the associated segment. When expenses are set to committed, the values in the "actual" column of expenses are aggregated in the "Committed" column of the budget hierarchy.

Planned: The fifth column in the budget hierarchy indicates the sum of all expenses with a status set to "planned" in the associated segment. When expenses are set to planned, the value in the "planned" column of the expense is aggregated in the "Planned" column of the budget hierarchy.

Total Expenses: This column indicates the sum of all expenses, regardless of status or timeframe, in a given segment.

Remaining/ (Over Budget):  This column calculates the difference between the segment budget (column 2) and the total expenses (column 6) in a given segment. The number is black if the difference between the segment budget and total expenses is greater than zero. The number is red and in parentheses if the difference between the segment budget and total expenses is less than zero.
