Expense status is a powerful and helpful way to track the level of commitment of your a given expenditure. It's worth understanding how it works to get the most out of your budget and plan.
There are three levels of expense status:
- Planned - this is an expense amount that you expect to spend on a specific expenditure, but you could still change your mind and deploy this money elsewhere.
- Committed - this amount is, well, committed. Typically there is a contractual commitment to spend the money ... and so even if the money is technically not yet spent, or not recognized by the finance team as spent, you cannot use this money elsewhere in your budget.
- Closed - this expenditure is complete. The money has been invoiced, paid, and/or accrued by finance.
You'll see these statuses throughout Plannuh, and they are color-coded:
