# Allocate Budget

Planful for Marketing admins can allocate the budget on a monthly, or quarterly basis to segments in the Budget Page.

### Accessing Budget Allocation

8. To edit Allocations in the table, hover over any budget variant within a segment, and the user can:
  1. **Double-click to True-up** – Reallocate the budget in a month or segment quickly.

9. **Save budget.** After making edits, choose the save option that fits your needs: **Once** saved, the updated **Status** will appear beside the budget’s name in the center of the page.

| **Save Option** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Test | Indicates this is a test budget and not a source of truth. |
| Read-Only | Prevents any edits. The status must be changed to make updates. |
| Draft | Visible to users with access, but not finalized. |
| Live | Makes the budget the default for your team. |

### **Best Practices**

- Use **Draft** for work-in-progress budgets.
- Apply **Baseline** to track changes over time.
- Regularly review **Total vs. Allocated** to ensure full utilization of funds.
