Planful for Marketing: Introduced a New Feature Custom Fields

With this latest release, we have unveiled a powerful new feature within the application: Custom Fields. This addition helps you to precisely tailor your marketing strategies by offering the flexibility to create, modify, or remove custom data fields applicable to campaigns, expense groups, or expenses.

23(11)

Custom fields allow you to customize data values according to your requirements. You can define and manage up to four custom fields for each campaign, expense groups, and expenses, totaling 12 custom fields across your entire system. These fields can be populated manually or through data imports, providing a comprehensive dataset to analyze, filter, and export as needed.

Additionally, you can inherit the parent value when creating any child campaign, expense, or expense group. However, if the custom field values differ and you try to move any campaign, expense, or expense group, you will have options to replace the child campaign custom value with that of the parent, keep both values, or cancel the action.

You can also add a detailed description for each custom field, ensuring a clear comprehension of its purpose and usage. Custom fields are designed with specific purposes, capturing particular pieces of information relevant to their context. By providing a detailed description, users can understand why the field exists and how the data entered will be utilized. This purpose-based approach ensures that all custom fields are meaningful and contribute to the overall clarity and functionality of the system. Whether used for internal tracking, client segmentation, or performance analysis, the accompanying description serves as a helpful tooltip, guiding users across the platform and facilitating seamless collaboration.

Custom fields provide  the flexibility and control to precisely capture and utilize essential data points, transforming your strategic decisions.

Let’s consider an example:

You have structured your marketing plan budget at the highest level by region, allocating resources to each campaign with its own GL and Type. Nevertheless, you still require a method to track your total expenditure by product. By implementing a custom field at the campaign level, you can designate each campaign with the relevant product(s) manually or automatically based on predefined criteria.

This feature enables you to filter and generate reports displaying the total spending on specific products, such as 'total campaign expenditure on Product A for May.'

Custom fields enhance your ability to analyze targeted spending, improve reporting accuracy, and optimize budget management. They offer clear insight into your investments in each product, ensuring that your marketing initiatives effectively align with your strategic goals.
