How to Export Data

In Practice

  1. Select the Model you want to export data from.

  2. In the Name field, enter a name for the export.

  3. In the File Type field, select Text or Comma delimited.

  4. For Row Delimiter, the default is {CR}{LF}, which means carriage return line feed.

  5. Select a Column Delimiter, which separates each column with a tab, semicolon, or comma.

  6. For Text Qualifier, specify the character you want the system to use to enclose values in the file. This function is important because it separates the field data from the delimiter. You may select to separate the two using single quotes or double quotes. If you choose none, there will be no separator to distinguish between the delimiter and field data.

  7. Select to display dimension members by code or display label in the Dimension Member Display field.

  8. For Data, Leaf is defaulted as all leaf level data will be exported.

  9. Select Yes to manipulate exported data by suppressing values that equal zero in the Suppress Zero Values field.

  10. All dimensions are displayed once the model is selected. Select AllMembers to export all dimension members. Or, filter output by selecting MemberAndBelow or Fixed Member. MemberAndBelow exports the dimension member identified in the Value cell as well as all members below that dimension member in a hierarchy. FixedMember allows you to identify a specific dimension member to export.

  11. Click the Export to File action.

  12. Enter a file name and click Save as shown below.

  13. Save the export in Dynamic Planning by clicking the Save button. This way, you can reuse this export.

How to Import Data

In Practice

  1. Click the Import to File action.

  2. Select the exported zip file from the browser window and click Open. You will receive an email based on the success of the import. Any exceptions occurring during the import will be emailed.

    Note:
You can only import data that was previously exported from Dynamic Planning. Based on the export format that was used to export the data, data will be cleared before importing the data and then the data will be imported. For example, let's say you exported Scenario: Actual, Department: Sales data from a Model. When you import the data, all the data against Scenario: Actual and Department: Sales will be cleared and the data that is available in the exported file will be loaded into the Model.
    Tip
As a best practice, it is not recommended that you open the export file and make changes to the data and or the file.
