Article Summary

You can use Hierarchy Management to organize dimension members and reports. Dimensions are like the building blocks of your financial system. They help you keep track of monthly account balance summaries in the Planful application. These hierarchies are designed for specific parts of your finances on the Define Financial Segments page. You can use the Hierarchy Management page to easily add, edit, and manage hierarchies, making it simpler to keep your financial data organized and create reports.

You can access the Hierarchy Management page by navigating to Maintenance > Hierarchy Management.

To access the hierarchy management pane, you must have permission to define financial segments and enable the OLAP configurations. The workflow below gives a high-level understanding of the hierarchy management process and how the topics on this page have been organized.

You can create Hierarchies for the dimensions defined on the Define Financial Segments page. You can access the page by navigating Maintenance > Administration > Configuration Tasks.


 OLAP Configurations This section helps you enable the OLAP Cube configurations for managing dimension hierarchies, rollup members, and calculated members. To learn more about the OLAP Configurations, click here

 Dimension Locking When you access a hierarchy within the Account dimension, it gets locked for other users. Any hierarchy under Account Dimension is then accessible only in a read-only mode. The lock is removed once you navigate from the hierarchy or log out of the application. Click here to learn more.
