Article summary

This article will include the topics that are required for Planning Templates.

Publishing Templates

ONLY APPLICABLE WHEN YOU HAVE MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS IN AN ENVIRONMENT.

You can publish a Master Template to Sibling Applications. Publishing a template takes all the input data from the master application and makes it available in a sibling application template, except the reference cube lines. You can publish a template to more than one application within a group and publish either a default scenario template or a running scenario template. However, if you want to publish a Global Template - Single Copy template in the Default scenario, you must publish the template to a running scenario within the master application first.

When you repeat the publishing process with changes in the master application template, the changes overwrite the sibling application template.

Prerequisites and Template Publishing Process

Prerequisites

To publish a template, the following is required:

  • Financial Segments, Financial Budget Entities, Fiscal Year, and Budget Parameters must be the same in the master and sibling applications. If the master application template contains specific segment members, only the matching segments available in the sibling application will be published.
  • The Enable Publish checkbox must be selected from the General Information tab of the template.
  • The master application template must contain at least one line.
  • The Time Sets for master and sibling applications must be the same.
  • The Global Fields mapped to the master and sibling applications must be the same.
  • The number of Attribute and Summary columns in master and sibling application templates must be the same.
  • If you are publishing a running scenario template from the master application , the running scenario must be present in the sibling application.
  • The template in the master application must not be in use at the time of publishing.

If the publish process fails to meet at least one of the above prerequisites, the application will either not publish the template or will complete the publish process with errors.

Note:
You cannot publish a template being used by another user.

Publish a Template to a Running Scenario

Templates mapped to a default scenario can be published to a running scenario. This allows you to publish a template from a master application to a running scenario in a sibling application. This is applicable only if you have multiple applications.

Prerequisites

  • The template must be in the master application.
  • The Enable Publish checkbox must be selected on the General Information tab of the template.

To publish a template to a running scenario:

  1. Navigate to Maintenance > Templates>Template Setup.
  2. Select the desired template for which the Publishable column value is set to Yes.
  3. Click More, then select Template Push for Running Scenario.
  4. Select the checkbox for the running scenario.
  5. Click Publish.
