    In Practice

    1. Select a View that contains the relevant accounting data for the income statement.

    2. Go to Sheet 1 in the workbook and design the Income Statement by creating the necessary headings and desired appearance. Rename the tab to Income Statement.

    3. Return to the Analyze tab and select Design With followed by Excel Report.

    4. Click Refresh to update the data in the report.

    5. Copy the appropriate data cells from the View and paste them into the Income Statement tab to fill in the contents of the Income Statement.

      Note:
      If Gross Profit is not available in the model, you will need to use a separate Excel formula to calculate it.

      To display numeric values in millions, here are the steps:

    6. Insert a heading that indicates the values are in millions.

    7. Apply custom Cell Formatting using the format code "$#,,;" to display the cell values in millions.
