This article summarizes the various instances in which the Actions menu is being disabled. The Actions Menu can be disabled for any of the reasons mentioned below:
The Required Flag Is Not Enabled: The Actions Menu only becomes active when it is enabled. If this flag is turned off, you will not have access to the menu. You must contact Planful Support.
The Actions menu is not available for the Edit Employee window. It's not available when adding employees.
The Employee Profile has an Ongoing Advanced Action: If an employee has undergone an advanced action—such as a promotion, transfer, or termination, the Actions Menu will be disabled to prevent further modifications.
Promotion: Once an employee is promoted, a new profile is created with the updated position and salary. The original employee record cannot be edited, and the Actions Menu is disabled. Click here to learn more about Promotion.
Transfer: The system creates two records for a transferred employee: Transfer-Out Record (Old Profile) and Transfer-In Record (New Profile). The Actions Menu remains disabled in the old profile to prevent further modifications. Click here to learn more about Transfer.
Termination: When an employee is terminated, the Actions Menu is disabled, and no other actions can be performed on their profile. You cannot make further modifications unless they revert the termination. Click here to learn more about Termination.
The Scenario Is Set to Default: Actions are not available in default scenarios because these scenarios end in past years. Since workforce planning focuses on future events, actions like promotions, transfers, or terminations cannot be performed in an expired scenario. Always select a non-default scenario before making workforce changes.
Employee Holds Multiple Simultaneous Positions: If an employee holds multiple overlapping positions, the Actions Menu will not be available. The system does not allow modifications for employees with simultaneous roles, as it could cause discrepancies in reporting, payroll, and workforce planning.
If actions are needed, ensure that the employee has either: A single position or Multiple incremental (non-overlapping) positions.
Position End Date Has Passed: If the Position End Date is in the past, the Actions menu is automatically disabled. This is because the employee's position is no longer active, and future modifications are not applicable. Adjust the Position End Date before performing any actions if an update is necessary.
Employee Type Restrictions Apply: Certain actions are restricted based on employee classification:
Employees with review percentages tied to their type cannot have those values updated through the Actions Menu.
