Article summary

Error: Source Period '[X]' is invalid for Target Period '[Y]'. Closed Periods of Source Scenario cannot be selected.

What It Means

  • A closed period from the Reference Scenario is being selected as the source period during the creation of a Plan Scenario.

  • Closed periods cannot be used when mapping or seeding data to target periods.

How to Resolve

If the Reference Scenario’s closed period is selected for an open period (target period), then you will get an error message.

To resolve this, select a Source Period that is not part of a closed period in the Reference Scenario.

  1. Review the Projection Start Date setting for the Reference Scenario by navigating to Maintenance > Scenario Setup, select the desired Reference Scenario, and click the Edit icon.

  2. Choose a source period that falls on or after the Projection Start Date while creating a new Plan scenario.

For example: If the Projection Start Date is Mar-25, then all periods before Mar-25 (e.g., Jan–Feb) are considered closed periods and cannot be referenced.
