Allocate Budget

Planful for Marketing admins can allocate the budget on a monthly, or quarterly basis to segments in the Budget Page.
Accessing Budget Allocation
Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
From the Settings drop-down menu, select Budget.
Click the Edit icon next to the budget amount.
Make changes to allocate budget monthly or quarterly per segment.
Click Save & Close to apply changes. The Total Budget vs. Allocated calculation will display any remaining amount not yet allocated to a segment.
To explore more editing options: Click the Manage Budget button. Use the drop-down list to edit budgets at both individual and segment levels.
Override the budget date by toggling the date setting on and selecting a new date.
To edit Allocations in the table, hover over any budget variant within a segment, and the user can:
Double-click to True-up – Reallocate the budget in a month or segment quickly.
Drag and Drop – Move leftover budget from one month to a future month within the same or a different segment.
Manual Overwrite – Double-click and type in a new allocation amount.
Undo Changes – Click Undo Changes to revert to the previous view.
Delete Allocations – Double-click the budget cell and press Delete on the keyboard.
Save budget. After making edits, choose the save option that fits your needs:
Once saved, the updated Status will appear beside the budget’s name in the center of the page.Save Option Description Test Indicates this is a test budget and not a source of truth.
Read-Only Prevents any edits. The status must be changed to make updates.
Draft Visible to users with access, but not finalized.
Live Makes the budget the default for your team.
Select the Save as Baseline checkbox to set this budget as the reference point for comparing with previous budgets.
Best Practices
- Use Draft for work-in-progress budgets.
- Apply Baseline to track changes over time.
- Regularly review Total vs. Allocated to ensure full utilization of funds.
