Planful for Marketing: Introduced New Budget Drawer Interface

With this release, Planful for Marketing has enhanced the Plan Budget page by repositioning key options and introducing a modernized drawer interface. This update is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline and improve the user experience across the application.

Benefits

These enhancements simplify the experience for administrators by:

  • Reducing clicks and visual clutter.

  • Accelerating the budget creation process and ensuring consistency with other Planful for Marketing components.

Key Enhancements

The Key enhancements include the repositioning of the following options in the Plan Budget page:

Create Budget Option

The Create New Budget button has been repositioned for improved visibility and ease of access. It now appears separately from the Manage Budget dropdown to better distinguish its function.

Clicking Create New Budget opens a slide-in drawer that contains all relevant budget creation fields. This drawer replaces the previous modal window and aligns with the existing Edit Budget Details drawer used elsewhere in Planful for Marketing.

The drawer preserves the following existing default behaviors while improving their visibility and accessibility:

  • Owner defaults to the logged-in user.

  • Fiscal Year defaults to the current year, starting January 1.

  • Timeframe is preset to Monthly, which can be changed to Quarterly.

  • Forecast appears disabled by default—making it visible upfront while remaining inactive unless manually enabled later. To learn more about Forecast, click here.

Users can complete the budget creation process with the following actions:

  • Save & Close – Saves the draft and closes the drawer.

  • Cancel – Opens a confirmation dialog, allowing users to discard changes and prevent accidental data loss.

Notes:

  • Newly created budgets continue to follow the existing default Draft status logic.

  • The More menu will not appear in the enhanced drawer until the budget is created and saved, consistent with prior behavior (as actions like Duplicate or Delete do not apply to unsaved drafts).

Custom Available Budget

  • The Custom Available Budget option has been relocated from the Manage Budget dropdown and is now included in the new Budget Drawer. To learn more about Custom Available Budget, click here.
