Overview
The Planful Capital Planning feature enables users to create budgets and forecasts for capital expenditures by adding and categorizing assets and creating finance modes with time sets.
Asset Setup
Asset setup has three different types to cater to your capital expenditure:
- Asset Categories
- Asset
- Finance Mode

Functionalities
Here are the functionalities available on the Capital Planning page. Click each tab to find more details.
The asset categories should be created before creating assets, for tracking and accounting purposes. On the asset category page, you can perform the following actions:
Adding Asset Categories
- Go to Maintenance > Capital > Asset Setup and select the Asset Categories tab.
- Click the + icon.
- Enter a unique Asset Category Code and a descriptive Asset Category Name.
- Input the average Asset Life (in Months).
- Click Save.

Edit
You can modify the information of an asset category that already exists by clicking the edit icon.
Delete
You can remove an asset category from the list by clicking the delete icon.
Copy
You can easily copy an existing asset category details by clicking the copy icon.
- In the Asset Categories section, click the copy icon.
- Enter the Asset Category Code and Asset Category Name.
- Click Copy.
Apply Filter
You can apply a filter to view any specific data.
Export to Excel
You can download the asset category file by clicking the export icon.
You can easily print the asset category list by clicking the print icon.
On the asset page, you can perform the following actions:
Adding Asset
- Go to Maintenance > Capital > Asset and select the Asset tab.
- Click the + icon.
- Enter a unique Asset Code and a descriptive Asset Name.
- Select a Category from the dropdown list.
- Input the average Asset Life (in Months).
- Select Status either Active or Inactive.
- You can enable end-users to override the useful life of an asset during budget input by selecting the Allow Life overriding by end user checkbox.
- Click Save.

Edit

Delete
You can remove an asset from the list by clicking the delete icon.
Copy
You can easily copy existing asset details by clicking the copy icon.
- In the Asset section, click the copy icon.
- Enter the Asset Code and Asset Name.
- Click Copy.
Report
You can click the Report icon to view all templates associated with the asset.

Apply Filter
You can apply a filter to view any specific data.
Export to Excel
You can download the asset file by clicking the export icon.
You can easily print the asset list by clicking the print icon.
The Finance Mode allows for the purchase of assets through various options such as credit, cash, or loans. You can set up finance modes for different asset categories. For each asset category, establish capital costing items. Each finance mode you create can be utilized to allocate budgets for different assets within a selected category.
- Go to Maintenance > Capital > Asset Setup and select the Finance Modetab.
- Click the + icon.
- Enter a unique Asset Code and a descriptive Asset Name.
- Select an asset category from the Unmapped Asset category(s) and click the forward arrow to map it. Alternatively, you can also unmap asset categories by selecting one in the Mapped Asset category(s) pane and clicking the back arrow.
- Click Save.

Edit
You can modify the information of a finance entry that already exists by clicking the edit icon.
Delete
You can remove a finance entry from the list by clicking the delete icon.
Copy
You can easily copy existing finance details by clicking the copy icon.
- In the Finance Mode section, click the copy icon.
- Enter the Finance Mode Code and Finance Mode Name.
- Click Copy.
Setup
Once you have added finance modes, click the Setup icon to design the template. Learn more about the setting up finance mode here.
Report
You can click the report icon to view all templates associated with the finance mode.
Apply Filter
You can apply a filter to view any specific data.
Export to Excel
You can download the Finance file by clicking the export icon.
You can easily print the Finance list by clicking the print icon.
