On the Finance Attributes list page, two options are not set for each attribute added to a hierarchy: Used in Reporting and Drill Down to Dimension member.
Let’s say you have already added the following attributes: Other Accounts and External Reporting. Click here to learn more on how to add the attributes.
How to Map an Attribute to a Dimension?
To map an attribute to a dimension, do the following:
- Navigate to Maintenance > Reports > Cube Settings.
- On the Attribute Settings tab, click the Add icon to add an attribute. The Select Attributes window appears, for the selected area.
- Select the attributes in the hierarchy (organized by dimension) and click Add Selected.
- For each attribute, check the Type field.
- Basic: Allows you to select the Include Rollup Members checkbox. This selection includes leaf-level members with the mapped attribute and allows you to drill down.
- Property: Does not allow selection of the Include Rollup Members checkbox.
For example, for the Other Accounts attribute, the type is set to Basic. Select the Include Rollup Members checkbox.
For the External Reporting attribute, the type is set to Property. So, the Include Rollup Members checkbox is unselected and uneditable.
- Click Save.
- Navigate back to the Attribute Setup page to verify. This step is optional but it is recommended.
Once you return to the Attribute Setup page, you will notice the following:
- The attributes are used in reporting, so the Used in Reporting column is marked as Yes.
- For the Other Accounts attribute, the Include Rollup Members checkbox remains unselected and is not editable. So, the Drill down to Dimension member value for this attribute is marked as Yes.
- For the External Reporting attribute, the Include Rollup Members checkbox is selected. Consequently, the Drill down to Dimension member value for this attribute is marked as No.
Notes:
- After making changes to a hierarchy, the Reporting Cube is automatically processed and the updates are reflected in the reports. Click here to learn how to process the reporting cube.
- Also always remember that the attributes or attribute hierarchies cannot be updated if they are currently mapped to a report or report set in the reporting area.
- You can make these attributes available when creating Dynamic Reports. Click here to learn more.
