A cash flow statement tracks the movement of cash in and out of a business across operating, investing, and financing activities. To build a cash flow statement, do the following:
Navigate to Reports.
Click the New icon, and then select Dynamic Report.
Select Financial as the Reporting Area, and then click OK.
Set up the report structure:
Drag and drop the Company dimension to the Page axis. This allows filtering using specific entities.
Drag and drop the Account dimension to the Row axis. This allows pulling data from specific general ledgers containing cash flow data. Cash flow statements generally include three key sections: Cash from Operations, Investing, and Financing activities. However, this structure varies based on the general ledger configuration in the organization.
Drag and drop the Time dimension to the Column axis. This allows selecting the time period (year, quarter, or month) for which the cash flow statement is needed.
Click the Show Header & Footer icon to configure headers for the cash flow statement, and then click OK.
Click the Run icon and preview the statement.
Click the Save icon to store the report for future use.
Using Reports Sets to Create a Cash Flow Statement
Organizations define row report sets for cash flow statements to speed up the reporting process. To use a row report set, drag and drop the relevant report set to the Row axis.
In the example below, Cash Flow Detailed Rowset is a predefined row used to generate cash flow statements for different companies and time periods based on requirements. Click here to learn more about creating report sets.
