What is an Allocation Template

The allocation template type is used for distributing funds across different budget entities. Template input options are similar for both the Global Template Single Copy (GTSC) and Allocation templates. However, in the GTSC template type, the numbers are entered directly in the currency of the budget entity. The template then converts the amounts to a common currency. With the allocation template type, the process is reversed. The amount is entered exclusively in USD and subsequently converted to the local currency based on the prevailing currency exchange rate.

For example, you have $100 in an allocation account and you want to distribute it among different entities or categories. These allocations can be applied to both USD and non-USD entities.  For entities with a non-USD currency, the local currency amount is calculated by applying the exchange rates at the time of saving the allocation template.
